Iron Man opens with our introduction to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Stark is a Billionaire playboy who develops weapons for the military. Tony is in Afghanistan to show off his company's new weapon, but some terrorists who want him to build the weapon for them capture him. Tony develops a new weapon, and gets free from his captives. As Tony gets loose from his captures, his best friend Col. Rhodes (Terrence Howard) rescues him, and takes him to safety at 123movie.

When Tony gets back to Los Angles his whole perspective on life changes, and he decides that he's going to help humanity instead of trying to destroy it. We see him developing a new suit for him to fend off the world's evil men. As Tony takes it upon himself to take out the bad guys, he finds out that his business partner, and supposed loyal friend Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) has been planning his demise for some time. When Stane finds out about Tony's new little invention he has a team of engineers build one as well in hopes to market it to the government, or anyone who ponies up the money.

Tony along with his assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) find out what Stane is up too, and when Pepper Potts life is endanger Tony takes it upon himself to save her with his new invention. Tony, and Stane battle it out, one to save humanity, and one to have more power than he ever thought possible.
Iron Man in my opinion is one of the best super hero movies ever made. It's well written, expertly acted, it has terrific special effects, and it's directed with a firm hand that never gets to flashy.

The acting in this movie is terrific with Robert Downey Jr. leading the way as Tony Stark. Robert plays Tony with no respect for others, as he taunts his expertise, and his wealth, while he always remains sure of himself to a fault. When it comes time for Tony to realize that his company has been responsible for killing the very people they were trying to keep safe his change in perspective is very haunting without going over the top. Great Job!

The rest of the cast is terrific as well with Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jeff Bridges all at the top of their game. Jeff Bridges especially seems to be having a lot of fun playing the bad guy here, and he's good at it. Great job by all!

The direction by Jon Favreau is outstanding with Jon tacking his biggest movie to date. He films the action with a firm hand, and he kept away from all the shaky cam, and quick cutting that seems to be invading the movie landscape nowadays. He also seemed to be comfortable with handling the special effects most of which looked extremely real. Great job!

Overall I highly recommend Iron Man. It's a terrific way to start the summer movie season, and I just hope the rest of the films that come out are as good. Iron got everything right from the acting, story, special effects, and the direction. It's definitely a great way to start the summer.
