With the proper eyebrow shaping, your brows will draw attention to your eyes. Well-defined brows give your face that proper balance and soften your facial features.
Not everyone is blessed with full, thick eyebrows, but don't despair. An eyebrow pencil is the perfect tool to help you achieve those gorgeous looking eyebrows - just make it a part of your daily makeup kit.
With the right application, you can end up with natural looking brows, those that will give your face a dramatic lift. Before we begin, you need to make sure that you get an eyebrow pencil that blends with the color of your skin. Avoid using dark colors; you don't want to make your eyebrows look "painted on." These are the things that you will need
Eyebrow pencil
Brow brush
Cotton bud
Mirror
Brow gel (optional)
1. Before you apply the eyebrow pencil, make sure that your brows are clean. Take out any excess foundation with cotton dabbed in alcohol.
2. Start off by marking three points in your brow, the beginning, the middle and the end.
The beginning of the brow is determined by placing the eyebrow pencil on the outer side of your nose pointing upwards passing through the inner corner of your eye. Mark that point of your brow with a small dot. The middle part or the highest point of your eyebrow is guided by your iris. Place a dot on the brows just outside of your iris. The end part of your eyebrow is obtained by pointing the pencil from the outer side of your nose, partly slanting it to reach the outer corner of your eye. Place a dot on that part.
3. Now that you have established those points, outline the top and bottom line of your brow with soft, feather-like strokes.
4. With an upward motion, lightly fill in your brows with your brow pencil, starting from your inner brows. If you need to define the arch of your brow, feel free to add a little bit of pressure with your strokes.
5. After you have completely filled in your brows with your eyebrow pencil, polish it up by cleaning the smears using a cotton bud. Hold it vertically and gently rub out those smears around the edges of your eyebrows.
6. Take your brow brush and brush your eyebrows to blend together those feather-like strokes.
7. Check with your mirror for any sparse area. Fill it in with your eyebrow pencil and brush your eyebrows once again.
8. For the finishing touch, get your eyebrow gel and apply it on your brows. This will hold the eyebrows in place throughout the day.
Important tips:
Do not use a single stroke in applying your eyebrow pencil. Short, light strokes will look more natural. Avoid using a newly sharpened brow pencil, because the strokes will look too defined and unnatural. You can give the tip a quick pinch using your index finger and your thumb. This will make the strokes broader and more natural.
