What is the MCI Screening Test and Why Is It Important?

MCI Screening Test or the Medical Council of India Screening Test is the examination run under the supervision of National Board of Examinations in India. The exam is compulsory for Indian students who planning for study MBBS in Abroad and wish to work as a medical practitioner in India after returning is required to appear for the exam. It is also known as Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE).

The Medical Council of India planned this test and provided provision for it. The Medical Council of India (MCI) aims to establish uniform standards of higher qualification in health and medicine. It also functions for the recognition of medical qualifications in India and Abroad. The MBBS degree done in a non-MCI approved university is invalid in India.

Thus, the choice of approved university is the main for study MBBS in Abroad. Before leaving the country, the student should acquire the MCI Eligibility and on completion of the degree, they need to submit the copies of that certificate to the examination center appear in the MCI Screening Test and score at least 150 marks out of 300.
